Young People View Lake Garda Tourism Jobs as Opportunities and Uncertainties
During the second event of the Grand Tour IV, an survey by the Garda Tourism Observatory revealed that while 77% of young students perceive tourism as offering good job opportunities, only 39% are interested in pursuing careers in the sector. Concerns about job precarity, career growth, and work-life balance hinder active participation, although 68% express interest in working abroad in tourism.
The event, held in Salò and attended by institutional and sector representatives, discussed these findings and the sector’s strategic importance for Italy’s economy. Tourism employment has grown by 2.4% annually between 2019 and 2024, employing around 1.5 million people, and remains a key driver of economic development and innovation.
