Video surveillance and illegal activities: interventions by the Brescia Region
The Lombardy Region has announced an investment of nearly half a million euros to implement surveillance systems in the fight against illegal occupancy in public housing. The funding, amounting to €486,725, will be allocated to the areas of Brescia, Cremona, and Mantua and is part of a larger allocation of €2.9 million aimed at enhancing security in residential complexes managed by Aler. The measures planned include the installation of alarm systems, armed surveillance, and reinforced doors for vacant apartments. Project proposals must be submitted to the regional department by mid-September.
The Housing Assessor, Paolo Franco, emphasized that the goal is to protect legitimate tenants and effectively combat the illegal occupation of housing. The resolution approved by the regional council highlights the importance of collaboration between entities to ensure safety and legality in public housing, where many vulnerable individuals reside. The Security Assessor, Romano La Russa, reiterated that such initiatives demonstrate the Region’s commitment to protecting honest citizens and those waiting for their turn on the waiting list for housing.
