Canottieri Garda Salò: vice champions at the Italian Youth Championships in Formia
At the Italian Youth Championships for doubles classes, held in Formia from August 27 to 30, athletes from Canottieri Garda Salò, Emilia Salvatore and Pietro Zandri, claimed the title of Italian vice champions in the 29er class. With just a one-point deficit behind the winners, Giuseppe Montesano and Enrico Coslovich, representatives of Sirena Klub N Triestino and Circolo della Vela Muggia, the two young sailors showcased great skill despite a few mistakes during the competition. Also on the podium were teammates Giulia Bartolozzi and Pietro Rizzi.
The final result does not diminish the extraordinary season for the Garda team, which has already been marked by victories in both the European and World Championships. The club shone with eight crews out of forty-two participants, including Rodolfo Compagnoni and Nicolò Cariolaro, under-17 male Italian champions, and Margherita Martarelli and Camilla Ceruti, under-19 female Italian champions. Coaches Enrico Fonda and John Gandi announced that next year will be dedicated to training on Waszp boats, marking an important transition towards a more modern and faster sailing style.
