Town Launches Free Multilingual Guide on Municipal Services for Residents and Visitors

The Guide to Municipal Services for Citizens is coming soon, which will be distributed free of charge to all families and will be available to tourists and visitors at the main gathering points and commercial establishments in the town.

Written in two languages, Italian and German, it encompasses about forty pages of useful information. For example, it includes a list of local associations, the operating hours and organization of municipal offices, some historical notes about the Scaliger castle, rock carvings, churches, notable figures, and insights into the beauties of the Pai and Albisano hamlets.

Details and Sponsorships

“It is the first time,” specifies Alberto Vedovelli, the mayor, “that an operation of this kind has been carried out in the town. Moreover, thanks to over sixty local advertisers who sponsored the initiative by reserving some advertising space in the brochure, the guide has virtually cost the municipality nothing.”

It is certainly a convenient way for both residents and Italian and foreign visitors to learn not only about the town but also about the schedules and functioning of various services and offices. Printed by Pubblidany, an advertising and place-name publishing graphic studio from Brescia that had previously printed a town map, the guide will now be distributed free of charge to all heads of households in the town.

Distribution and Goals

Additionally, the approximately eight thousand copies produced will be handed out at local shops, bars, hotels, and at the offices of the local tourism promotion agency, to maximize the dissemination of the information contained in the brochure.

The culture councilor Daniela Peroni expressed both satisfaction and mild skepticism about the initiative.

“It is certainly a useful and indeed necessary initiative,” she comments. “However, with a bit more time and calm, a better and more accurate guide could have been printed.”

There are indeed several inaccuracies within the brochure. Nonetheless, since these are of relatively minor importance, the contribution that this product can give to citizens and foreign guests is definitely valid. For those with nothing better to do, it also provides a “useful” tool for leisure and spending some time verifying details — a fun and surely fruitful summer activity, a sort of “error hunt.”
