Lazise Concerti in Villa Kicks Off with Vivaldi Performance in Castle Courtyard

Between the fluttering of a blackbird from one tower to another, in the large courtyard where once stood the house of the Capitano del lago, the fourth season of the Concerti in villa has begun, promoted by the cultural association «Francesco Fontana».

As widely anticipated, the setting for this midsummer festival was the courtyard of the Scala castle, emblem and identity of Lazise.

The evening opening the series of four concerts scheduled until August, between Colà and Pacengo, was performed by the Serenissima Ensemble, with a program entirely dedicated to Vivaldi.

Music and the historical context

The highlight was the flute, with its sweet notes, accompanied by strings—violin and cello—with touches of harpsichord and oboe.

Sweet, ancient notes that harmonized beautifully with the medieval and Scala setting, as well as the Romantic park built in the 1800s by Count Buri, on the medieval ruins of the castle.

«Count Buri, along with Francesco Fontana», clarified the president of the association, Giulio Rama, «was a pioneer of lakeside and Garda tourism, aiming to reconstruct part of the castle and bring his residence to the lakeshore».

«Buri», Rama continued, «also wanted to restore the entire Scala city wall, but he was struck by death, and his wish remains unfulfilled to this day».

Audience reactions and comments

The entire audience, full and in quiet reverence, wanted to savor Vivaldi’s pieces such as «La Pastorella», «Il Gardellino», and «Concerto in F Major and in G minor

Thunderous and prolonged applause highlighted the enthusiastic appreciation of the attending crowd.

Many foreign tourists enjoyed not only the excellent music but also the opportunity to deeply experience the most lively and significant history of Lazise.

In addition to Mayor Luca Sebastiano, who sent his greetings on behalf of the Provincial Administration was the counselor for Public Education Adimaro Moretti degli Adimari.
