Desenzano Wins €3.15 Billion Jackpot in Superenalotto Draw

The goddess Fortuna kisses Lake Garda. A jackpot of three billion and 150 million euros was hit in Desenzano, thanks to a «5+1» in Superenalotto. The lucky ticket was purchased at Bar Nova in via Rambotti, managed by Maria Teresa Papa, who is married to Eliano Giustacchini. They are the parents of the deputy mayor of the Lake Garda capital, Emanuele Giustacchini. A family that has been running betting shops for over half a century, starting as early as 1946 with grandma Angela Pollini, who handled Sisal tickets in Piazza Garibaldi. Bar Nova was established in 1956. The city’s vice mayor welcomed reporters, photographers, and camera operators for the entire evening in the absence of the parents, who had gone for a walk and remained unaware of the «big» win until late at night.

The scene of the win and the overall context

«I don’t know who won,» explains the quiet man in the empty betting shop because it’s closed. «The flow of customers to our shop has been intense and continuous throughout the week. Several thousand bets are placed weekly on Superenalotto. No one has called to thank us so far.»

Hypotheses about the winner’s origin

«Considering that our clientele is mostly local and that the bar-tabac-convenience store is located in a central area,» comments the deputy mayor, «it’s probable that the winner is a Desenzanese. I truly hope it’s one of our regular customers.» The win consisted of a 5+1, a 5, and five 4s, all the result of a system bet. Probably one of many, as Eliano Giustacchini, the husband of the owner, with a penchant for IT, composes in his free time.

Yesterday’s win is the second billion-euro jackpot achieved on Lake Garda and the fifth in the Brescia province.
