City Council Approves Sports Hall Financing Plan for Casara Project

There is a preliminary agreement from the Istituto del credito sportivo to grant a loan of 3 billion and 100 million lire for the construction of the multipurpose sports hall at Casara.

To secure the final financing for the facility, listed among the public works included in the forecast budget for 2000, the City Council approved a plan demonstrating the economic and financial balance of the project.

Position of the Mayor and Assessors

“This is an essential project,” stated the mayor at the time of approving the three-year plan for public works, “to meet social needs.”

“Furthermore,” noted Luca Sebastiano, “the allocation provided for school building infrastructure has always been insufficient regarding the motor development of children. Additionally, there is a general social necessity for suitable spaces for sports activities outside of football.”

Description of the Intervention at Casara

The intervention at Casara, to be carried out in two separate phases, involves the construction of the gymnasium and locker room block as the first stage, to provide adequate spaces for official sports activities and other sports disciplines that have become somewhat outdated (volleyball, basketball, athletics, etc.), due to the lack of appropriate facilities.

The second phase aims, besides expanding the service parking lot, to build a bocce court.

The entire project, included in the three-year public works program 1999/2001, was prioritized in last year’s forecast budget with the approval of a comprehensive project and the first stage of work.

Procedure for Financing

The next step was to contact the Istituto del credito sportivo, which requested that, before granting the final loan, the City Council approve the economic and financial plan related to the gymnasium.
