Verona Economic Spotlight: Zambia Ambassador Explores Local Business Ties

With just under 95,000 active businesses, the province of Verona is undoubtedly among the most representative of the country’s economic and labor landscape. This is the reason that Mary Margaret Muchada, who has been in Rome for six months as the ambassador of Zambia, wanted to deepen her understanding of the productive reality in the Verona area.

Relations between Veneto and Zambia

Particularly motivated by some existing ties between the Veneto region and the African country, which is rapidly developing, especially in the processing of stone products, tourism, and universities. In Verona, the ambassador, accompanied by her counselor and husband Rudo Grace L. Manyarara, and a father of the Salesian Order, had the opportunity to hold a series of discussions with representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, particularly with the official from the Foreign Trade Office Annachiara De Carlo and with Fernando Morando, a member of the Chamber Council as a representative of Asco – Union for the Business Services Sector.

Collaboration prospects and company visits

In particular, they considered the possibility of organizing internships in Italy for young African graduates with the goal of deepening and expanding their study and work knowledge, thereby better preparing them for teaching roles in their home country. The meeting also included visits to some companies and concluded with a short trip to Lake Garda.
