Caprino Montebaldina Fair Features Music, Culture, and Local Exhibitions
Concerts, wine and food stalls, shows, and culture at the 247th edition of the Caprino Montebaldina Fair. The event kicks off with the band Città di Caprino, performing this evening at 9:15 PM in Piazza San Marco.
Tomorrow at 10:30 AM, the official opening of the fair will take place at the municipal seat in Palazzo Carlotti, attended by local authorities. Also tomorrow evening, two performances: at 9 PM in Piazza Stringa, music and dance with the Alex Group show orchestra; and for the younger audience, at 9:30 PM in the parish halls, a concert by Effetti Collateriali.
Sunday Activities and Initiatives
On Sunday at 9 AM, a Fiat 500 meetup in Piazza Stringa. “A new addition introduced this year for enthusiasts of this type of car,” explains Roberto Rodoz, president of Pro loco, the association that, together with the municipality, municipal library, and Apt Riviera degli Ulivi, helped organize the fair.
“The program also includes a scenic tour of the Baldo ridge to Ferrara, where local authorities will offer refreshments, and then return to Caprino.” From 4 PM to midnight, in the courtyard of Palazzo Carlotti, “Arts and Trades of the Past,” featuring musicians, jugglers, stilt-walkers, fire-eaters, and costumed performers reenacting medieval scenes.
Cultural and Gastronomic Events
“Artists, here in Caprino for the second consecutive year,” adds Rodoz, “will also visit guests at the Villa Spada retirement home. At 5:30 PM in Palazzo Carlotti, a guided tasting of Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil will be held, organized by the Garda DOP Consortium. The event’s ambassador will be chef Giorgio Gioco.
In the evening, at 9 PM in Piazza Stringa, music and dance with the Rommy show orchestra. On Monday at 6:30 PM, in the courtyard of Palazzo Carlotti, the first of four children’s shows, another new feature introduced for the first time at the Fiera montebaldina.
Shows and Awards
Clown Clementini will perform dexterity games in a show titled “The Umbrella is for the Sun,” in Piazza Stringa. At 9:30 PM, a disco with Radio Delta 2000; at 10:30 PM, the Miss Pro loco contest, held at provincial level, followed by another disco session.
On Tuesday, August 1st, at 6:30 PM, in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the solemn opening of the ancient Practica del Perdono d’Assisi will take place. Also at 6:30 PM, in the courtyard of Palazzo Carlotti, “Follow Where Your Feet Take You”, a puppet show directed by Laura Kibel.
Concerts and Various Performances
At 9:30 PM in Piazza Stringa, a rock concert by Royal Smile. At 10 PM, in the courtyard of Palazzo Carlotti, a puppet theater show titled “A Brief History of Mr. P”. On Wednesday, August 2nd, at 6:30 PM, a puppet show in Palazzo Carlotti’s courtyard titled “Brief History of Mr. P”. Also at 9 PM, music and dance with Baraka Music; and at 11:45 PM, a fireworks display.
Exhibitions and Displays
On Saturday, August 5th, in the courtyard of the elementary school, Art Festival with award ceremony for the painting contest. During the five days of the Fair, several exhibitions will also be open to visitors.
In Palazzo Carlotti, in the room above the council chamber, Montebaldino Collectors, together with colleagues from the twin town of Gau-Algheselm, have set up the Fourth Philatelic, Numismatic, and Postcard Exhibition, curated by the Ctg, along with a book and photography display from the Baldo.
Inside the “Sogni” room, there will be an exhibition of sundials and solar sculptures. The craft, industry, agriculture, machinery, and car exhibitions return to the building and courtyard of the elementary schools.
Gastronomy and New Features
An innovation in the gastronomic sector: the Risotto Masters of Isola della Scala will offer their specialties at the Pro loco kiosk, located at the start of Via Alcide De Gasperi. (a.t.)
