Lazise Implements New Waste Disposal Site Amid Merchant Parking Disputes

The latest ordinance issued by the Mayor of Lazise regarding the disposal of urban solid waste from commercial activities has enabled the Municipal Administration to activate a dedicated site for the placement of such waste. One of these sites has been set up at the Marra parking lot, adjacent to the football field. According to the ordinance, merchants are required to place their plastic containers in this area after 11 PM, with collection scheduled for the following day before 9:30 AM. Violators will be fined 500,000 lire.

However, merchants often fail to place the plastic containers because the area is completely covered—and illegally so—by numerous cars that park indiscriminately within the designated waste disposal spaces, including areas for paper and glass collection. This situation primarily occurs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, during peak tourist days.

Reactions from Merchants

“The protests from merchants are well-founded,” says Giuseppe Lucchini, “because all this disorder in the parking lot prevents us from doing things in an orderly way and in compliance with the regulations. Rules must be respected by everyone, including tourists.”
