Grole Square Renovation Contract Approved, Construction to Begin
Although it is provisional, the contract for the new square in Grole has been awarded. Now, the residents of the Castiglionese hamlet have an additional tangible step toward seeing the project completed within a few months, as even Mayor Arturo Sigurtà has publicly guaranteed that the inauguration of the new sacristy can take place on Fat Thursday of 2001.
The contract, which includes the arrangement of landscaped green space beside the church, amounts to 507 million lire, with an additional 48 million for public lighting, but the total cost borne by the municipality will be 772 million lire.
Description of the intervention and planned works
The project consists of three operations: the relocation of the road layout of via Valle Scura, which will be more straight and will increase the space between the agricultural area and the parish, then the arrangement of the square, and finally the creation of a green area and a parking lot.
Along via Valle Scura, new trees and a strip of grass will be planted, irrigated with an automatic system.
The new square will be bordered by a concrete wall serving as a railing and by connecting terraces with the surrounding sidewalks.
The paving of the sacristy and the access area to the ‘Collodi’ kindergarten will be in Trentino porphyry.
Regarding the green lawn area, separated from the road by concrete and gravel curbs, it will include a pedestrian path, trash bins, benches, children’s playground equipment, all landscaped, fenced with a wooden railing, and irrigated automatically.
The Grole park will also feature a fountain powered by the municipal aqueduct, and outside there will be an ecological area for the collection of urban waste.
The parking lot will be created between the green area and the existing houses upstream, with grated concrete slabs and grass, while the access road will be asphalted.
Other projects and expansions
Staying with the topic of hamlets, Public Works Councillor Innocente Sereni also announced that at the beginning of September there will be a tender to assign the works for the expansion of the lighting system in via Macometta, Gozzolina.
This project involves a total expenditure of 54 million lire: 17 new lighting points will illuminate an area of the hamlet recently expanded residentially.
