Puegnago Local Products and Events Highlight 24th Valtenesi Fair
The municipal administration of Puegnago has prepared a publication focusing on local traditional products and upcoming events in the area during the last half of 2000. This publication relates to the 24th edition of the Valtenesi and Garda Riviera Agricultural and Handicraft Fair, scheduled for the first week of September. “The aim of this publication,” explains Mayor Gianfranco Comincioli, “is to combine utility with entertainment,” meaning to showcase the local economic strength through a variety of local productions, and promote it through events aimed at fostering social interaction and fun, while also offering visitors the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the local agricultural and food sectors via conferences and cultural activities.
It is also highlighted that the main event of the Comune di Puegnago is precisely the early September fair, which aims to showcase and appreciate the productive efforts of local winemakers, beekeepers, olive growers, and artisans through the display and sale of quality typical wines, extra virgin olive oils, honeys, and fine artisanal works. Visitors can also enjoy numerous traditional dishes amid afternoon and evening concerts and folkloric events.
However, details about the specific program of the early September fair, which is packed with new features, will be discussed on another occasion. For now, let’s take a broad look at the scheduled events for August and September. The program begins today with the comedy “Il Bugiardo” (at 9 p.m.), followed tomorrow, August 4, by a concert by the local band; on August 5, there is the “Feast of Madonna della Neve” at the parish of Raffa; from August 13 to 15, the “Feast of Madonna della Mura”; and from August 25 to 27, the “End of August Festival” organized by the “Coordination of Puegnago Groups”. This festival features cycling and running competitions, a “Miss Mondo” contest, dance evenings, a fireworks display, and stands offering traditional dishes and wines.
In September, from the 1st to the 4th, the 24th edition of the Fair takes place; on September 9 and 10, there is a pilgrimage for foot soldiers; and on September 29, the patronal feast of San Michele Arcangelo. October’s busy calendar includes, among other events, the tenth edition of “Polenta Taragna,” scheduled from October 6 to 8.
