Garda’s Lakefront Development: New Sarca Bridge and Cycling Route

In the Arcense area of Garda, following the completion of the beach restoration, the small port, and the development of the lakeside cycle and pedestrian path, the focus now shifts to the Sarca bridge. It will be constructed next year at the river’s mouth to connect the Torbole section with the Arcense-Rivano section of the “balcony over the lake,” as this cycling route is dubbed for its panoramic view.

The provincial environment councilor Iva Berasi, who arrived yesterday morning at the Sarca mouth with her colleagues, previewed the upcoming work. Accompanied by municipal councilor Fabrizio Miori and Carlo Pompili, president of the Arco Sailing Club, the “super-sprint” lady administrator visited the projects carried out by the provincial service for valorization and environment.

Restoration and recovery works

A large stretch of beach has been restored with the construction of a breakwater reef and the filling of depressions. The ancient port has also been rebuilt, providing lake access to the Arco Sailing Club. The perimeter walls have been renewed in a “Venetian” style, with stones anchored to larch wood piles.

Two concrete slipways have been installed to moor boats, and in autumn, the underwater depth will be increased. For vessel passage, the wooden bridge on the lakeside trail at Arco is not yet finished. A green upgrade of the lakeside area with various plants and greenery is underway.

Future plans and planning

Regarding the anticipated Sarca bridge, Berasi announced it will feature an innovative design with a single arch. Funding is already allocated in the 2001 provincial budget. As part of the cycling routes, a junction will be created at the Linfano entrance of the existing Arco pathway to ensure safety for cyclists.

The inauguration of the new cycle and pedestrian route from Passo S. Giovanni through Nago to Torbole via S. Lucia and the forts is imminent. “The environmental enhancement of the Trentino side of Garda,” Iva Berasi proudly noted, “is nearing completion. Everything is fine.”
