City Deploys Electric Van and Street Sweeper for Eco-Friendly Cleanup
It is so silent that pedestrians often find it behind their backs without noticing anything. We are talking about the Piaggio van with electric motor that, together with the “Coccinella” street sweeper, was presented yesterday in Piazza Tre Novembre.
Presentation and use of the vehicles
Starting next Monday, the two vehicles will be operational along the streets of the city center, used by the company Socap di Preore which has the contract for the service from the municipality: the electric vehicle will be tasked with collecting trash from the bins scattered around the city, while “Coccinella” – which is equipped with a diesel engine and, despite its small size, costs around one hundred million lire – will join the vehicles already in service for cleaning the sidewalks.
Technical features and purposes
The electric van, which costs around 50 million lire, has a range of 70 kilometers (about 8 hours of work) and a battery that can be recharged in a few hours, enabling daily use.
To emphasize the purpose of the purchase, which aims to reduce noise and air pollution, the administration entrusted the small truck (and also Coccinella) to the skillful hand of Cornelio Perini, a nationally renowned airbrush artist.
Decoration and environmental message
Thus, after its makeover, the vehicle appeared in a friendly and colorful guise, decorated with drawings recalling the Garda landscapes and with slogans that, revealing its propulsion system, explain the administration’s commitment to environmental respect.
