Brescia Bishop’s Relics Returned in Ceremony Aboard Garda Ferry
Mission accomplished. The relics (ashes) of San Ercolano, the 19th Bishop of Brescia, have been returned from Campione del Garda, where the other clergyman had retired in solitude at Maderno.
During the ceremony, which took place aboard a vessel called the Regina del Garda, the ferry that shuttles between Maderno and Torri del Benaco, operated by Navigarda and festively decorated, with large Pavesi banners hoisted aboard and images of the Saint displayed.
The religious ceremony, rich in spirituality, was attended by the Bishop of Brescia himself, Mons. Sanguineti.
For the event, Poste Italiane issued a special philatelic cancellation.
