Updated “Itineraries of Taste” Guide Highlights Alta Garda’s Carne Salada e Fasoi

The monographic guide «Itineraries of Taste» published a few years ago by the Comunità del Garda has been updated and reprinted. Compared to the previous edition, which sold out quickly despite a high print run, the 2000 edition has been enriched, in particular, with six recipes from Gardesana cuisine—one for each proposed itinerary. These recipes are designed and suggested to be easily experimented with not only in restaurants and trattorias along the Gardesana coastlines and inland areas but also in the kitchens of those who love to cook. Naturally, they focus on using high-quality products from Lake Garda, generously offered by nature and agriculture of the Benaco region.

The Recipes of Alta Garda

Regarding Alta Garda, the choice fell on the most classic dish from the local gastronomic tradition: carne salada e fasoi (salted beef and beans). Where to enjoy it? The Comunità del Garda’s guide leaves the decision to the tourist, as it is not a guide to restaurants but to the territories, with some technical notes on product quality, such as wines, extra virgin olive oil, fish, truffles, and contact details of the relevant consortia and protection associations.
