Lake Garda Maintains Blue Flags Amid Ongoing Habitat Protection Efforts

Once again this tourist season, 2000, the blue flags of swimming suitability flutter proudly on all the tourist destinations of Lake Garda. An image certainly positive towards the world of national and international tourism, which rewards all the efforts that Garda Uno has undertaken year after year with the successful aim of restoring the waters of Italy’s largest lake to the best hygienic-sanitary conditions.

Protection objectives and environmental initiatives

Of course, once a goal is achieved, one must not, and never will, lower their guard, “indeed – emphasizes Guido Maruelli, president of Azienda Speciale Garda Uno. “This is a starting point towards other objectives of protection and safeguarding of the entire lake habitat.”

Among these objectives is also the will to actively contribute to all initiatives, whether public or private, aimed at the environmental recovery of the waters, coasts, and seabeds of Lake Garda.

In this spirit, the initiative scheduled for next Sunday, August 20, fits in: it concerns the “cleaning of the seabed in the Porto Moniga – Punta Liner section” and is carried out in collaboration with the Diving Sporting Club Porto di Moniga.

Participation details and logistical support

Anyone interested can participate in this initiative — divers, citizens, or organizations fighting for a better environment. To further encourage participation, a recognition has been established to be awarded to the most numerous Sporting Club.

Garda Uno will also send one of its cleanup boats to the site for this ecological campaign, ensuring an active presence and, most importantly, a vessel dedicated exclusively to cleaning the waters of Lake Garda.

The gathering point is at the Sporting Club of Porto Moniga at 8:30 a.m.

This is the first time Garda Uno takes part in a seabed cleaning operation. Such participation is not intended to be occasional but open to other similar initiatives and to all efforts aimed at improving environmental conditions, both on the surface and on the seabed.

“In the end,” – clarifies President Maruelli – “we must not forget that Garda Uno is a public company established by the municipalities around Lake Garda for ecological protection of the lake and all activities related to the environment.”
