Franco Campetti, “Carpenter of Mussolini,” Dies at 89 in Gargnano
Franco Campetti, known as “the carpenter of Mussolini,” who crafted the wooden boxes in which the dictator, after the fall of the Salò Republic, would entrust diaries and correspondence, has died at the age of 89 in Gargnano (photo). These boxes are still sought after by historians today. Campetti passed away in an assisted living facility.
