Castiglione Sets Agenda: Zoning Plan Debates and Urban Renewal
The month of September will be quite a busy and decision-packed period for the Castiglione municipal administration.
One of the topics that will be most debated, first within the majority coalition and then, probably, in the city council, will be the zoning plan. In fact, there are a series of measures that the executive might decide to adopt in order to initiate interventions on the urban planning instrument.
As is well known, one of the issues that will certainly be brought to the attention of the city council, after a couple of years of study by the appointed technician and the administration itself, is the detailed plan for the former Pastificio Cavalieri area. This should deliver the definitive word on the recovery of one of the most interesting and strategic parts of the historic center of Castiglione.
Regarding this measure, it appears that the executive has found a fairly solid agreement and that the administration is therefore intent on moving forward quite quickly.
Other requests concerning the zoning plan
On the other hand, according to better-informed sources, is the issue concerning other interventions on the zoning plan.
Indeed, there are numerous requests from private individuals seeking interventions (through the procedures provided by regional law no. 23 of 1997) on the PRG (General Town Plan) in order to change the designation of small areas.
Within the majority, there are two lines of thought: one that wishes to evaluate each request individually and proceed with those deemed appropriate; the other that advocates for a more radical intervention on the urban planning tool, with a variant under a “traditional” procedure, which however would entail significantly longer and more problematic approval times.
In other words, it is unlikely that the new plan could be definitively approved before the next elections.
The mayor Arturo Sigurtà‘s executive does not yet seem to have reached a decision: during this period, the majority of the council is on vacation, and no unified position has yet emerged from the leadership.
More details should become available in the coming weeks.
