Italian Preferences: Garter Belts and Stockings Top Erotic Imagination

According to sexologists, women’s lingerie is arousing not only because of the “peek-a-boo” game but also because it evokes the erotic parts of the female body: in particular, stockings are considered a symbol of fertility and the vagina, while the garter belt represents the pubic area and buttocks. Recent surveys indicate that the garter belt with stockings ranks first in the erotic imagination of Italians, followed by the bra in second place, the gorilla (güpière) in third, and the push-up bra in fourth. They are followed by bodysuits, hold-up stockings, lace panties, and thongs.
