Art, Poetry, and International Art Exchanges at Lake Albisano

A natural terrace facing the lake. Olive trees. Albisano. And the prestigious name of Sandro Bevilacqua, journalist and poet, to whom the cultural space during various meetings this summer has been dedicated.
To honor him – by the will of his daughter Paola and grandson Giovanni Masciola – as well as his poetic work and presence. In the 1950s, in the nearby family home, around Sandro Bevilacqua, Gilberto Altichieri, Giovanni Centorbi, Ferruccio Ferroni, and Giorgio Ferrante took turns.
Furthermore, Bevilacqua himself had a letter exchange with the great Ungaretti. “Look,” invites Paola Bevilacqua, herself an acclaimed and delightful painter, as she opens the windows to a wonderful terrace that frames the horizon of lake and mountains between gray, violet, and gold.
The Landscape and the Exhibition
A landscape that reflects his paintings. So full of light, sensitive, captured in the simplicity of form and color. Like in his beautiful “Ninfee.” The exhibition “a olive tree… an artist” took place throughout the summer (and will continue with another meeting in September), with the collaboration and idea of Marina Ansoldi, president of the “Triveneto Beni Culturali” Association.
An accomplished sculptor, she has won several important awards this year. It is on the branches of an olive tree, in the green light of grass streaked with sunlight, that we can admire one of her most evocative sculptures, “The Virgin of the Rocks,” dedicated to D’Annunzio.
Leaning against a trunk, on a grass cushion, are her transparent and ceramic butterflies, “Flapping Wings.” Over several Sundays, the olive grove gallery hosted a group of artists involved in a broad project with international meetings.
Artists and Participants
Many from Verona: Jannette Castioni, Matia Chincarini, Paolo Marcolongo, Christina Steiner, Sara Tagliente, Stefano Tedeschi, Leonello Trabujo, from Padova Sandro Doralice, Belgian Christophe Demaitre, John Melecsinsky (United States), Giuseppe Santonocito (Florence), Rossana Zen (Trento), Andrea Ortuno (Florence), and also from Verona Paola Bozzini, Leo Ferrioli, Alessandro Carone, Franca Benini, David Romano Rosa.
Guest at the third meeting, Liliana Tedeschi, who read some unpublished poems, preceded by a poem dedicated to sculptor Jeaume Plensa. “I find solace in the verses of other poets / when they depict an existential solitude / believing that no one will touch / that gray wall painted white…”
Themes and Future Exhibitions
The theme of Liliana Tedeschi, which sparked dialogue and debate, is not new to the Visual Arts. One of her first published collections, “Collages Mentali” (Rebellato Ed.), was accompanied by engravings by Novello Finotti, Leonardo Castellani, and Nereo Tedeschi.
Architect Alessandro Carone, vice president of the “Triveneto Beni Culturali,” confirmed that on September 15th, the Association will have the pleasure of presenting Oswald Aulestia, an international exponent of contemporary Spanish art.
All of this opens the door to significant international exchanges of ideas and projects. The first representative of the group to inaugurate this exchange is the Veronese engraver Stefano Tedeschi.
