Chiara Di Vinci Advances to Miss Italia Final from Brescia Region
Chiara Di Vinci, the 17-year-old student from Padenghe sul Garda, successfully passed the eliminatory rounds of the Miss Italia contest that concluded on Sunday evening in San Benedetto del Tronto. Chiara, exceeding all optimistic expectations given the fierce and competitive field (with 242 hopefuls from all over Italy), has secured her spot in the final scheduled to take place in Salsomaggiore from September 6 to 10.
Chiara is the only contestant from Brescia competing for the Miss Italia title. She is joined by five other Lombard girls: Pamela Zichichi, Miss Lombardia crowned last August 12 in Desenzano and granddaughter of the famous physicist, Silvana Silveri. Also participating are Chiara Chini, Federica Servi, and Chiara Scapin.
Regional contenders and participants
Lazio and Emilia Romagna are the two regions that bring the most finalists to the spa town, with twelve each. Following them, but with a significant gap, are Marche and Sardinia with seven finalists, Lombardia and Campania with six, then Veneto, Liguria, and Sicily with five, Abruzzo and Puglia with four, Piemonte, Val d’Aosta, Trentino Alto Adige, and Calabria with three, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Molise, and Basilicata with two, and finally Umbria with one girl.
Chiara Di Vinci, crowned Miss Cinema Lombardia on July 12 in a Mantuan nightclub and ironically crowned by Manila Nazzaro, Miss Italia reigning queen, had also walked the runway in Desenzano, earning a good placement here as well.
Departure and emotions
Yesterday morning, after a four-day marathon of catwalks, dance performances, and rehearsals in San Benedetto, the “circus” led by patron Enzo Mirigliani departed shortly after 7 a.m. for Salsomaggiore.
Out of 242 candidates from the Marche town, only one hundred will compete on the stage of the Salsomaggiore theater in front of the Rai cameras, which will broadcast the final live on Sunday, the 10th.
“It was around 11 p.m.,” Chiara Di Vinci recounts to “Bresciaoggi,” “when I knew I was going to Salsomaggiore. I burst into tears; I couldn’t hold back the emotion.”
Family and expectations
Who was with you? “My mother Loredana and my boyfriend, Cristian.” Who will accompany you to Salsomaggiore? “Only my mother came with me; Cristian and other relatives and friends will join later.”
Did you expect it? “Honestly no, there were 242 girls, all beautiful and well-prepared, but I gave it my all. In the end, the jury (composed of artists and figures from the entertainment and cultural sectors) judged me.”
Biography and prospects
Chiara, born 17 years ago in Desenzano but living with her father Bruno and mother Loredana in Padenghe, attended the fourth year at a professional trade institute in Desenzano.
Encouraged by her boyfriend and her mother, she started almost shyly. Now she finds herself competing for the title of Miss Italia.
Chiara is part of the group of girls selected by Wilma Bombardelli, the exclusive organizer of the Miss Italia contest for Lombardy and other regions of Northeast Italy. For curiosity, it’s worth noting that Bombardelli has already produced two Miss Italia winners, in 1985 and 1990. Could this be her third success?
