Trentino Delegation to Bethlehem for Cultural and Educational Exchange

The large delegation of polentari preparing for departure to Bethlehem is packing their bags: the flight to the Middle East is scheduled for September 1st.

Leading the group will be Councilor Andreozzi in his role as president of the provincial coordination of local authorities for Peace, and Mayor Malossini representing the municipality that recently re-approved its membership in the movement during the last City Council session.

The local contingent will also include two representatives from Varone’s polentari, President Miaroma and Carlo Zucchelli, along with three chefs: Antonio Miorelli (note: only shares a name with the businessman), Leonardo Rosà (who operates in Nuvola, groups of Alpine specialists in civil rescue), and Larentis.

Gastronomic and symbolic activities

Alongside polenta, there will be stewed meat according to the most classic and traditional recipe, which includes the addition of “pocio,” and a selection of local specialty products starting with a showcase of native cheeses.

The symbolic and ritual value of polenta cooked and shared with Palestinians in Bethlehem is not the only commitment of the delegation (which will also be strengthened by a substantial representation of Trentino politicians, from the president of the regional council Margherita Cogo to the president of the provincial council Mario Cristofolini, along with councilors Divina, Santini, and Taverna).

The ceremony and the educational project

The ceremony will be repeated in Beit Jala, a village 12 kilometers from the town where Christ was born.

There has long been an ongoing educational program aimed at enabling a number of young people to grow up with a basic level of education: since school fees are unaffordable for large families with limited incomes, there are 10 million from the municipality and 2.4 million from the pensioners’ circle, to help at least a little.

Around the polenta, this friendship will be strengthened. The return to Riva is scheduled for September 8th.
