Verona Contestants Advance to Miss Italia Final Stages
From Bardolino, they traveled to Salsomaggiore after a stop in San Benedetto del Tronto. Valentina Serugeri and Sara Geroin, crowned on the eve of Ferragosto during the Festival del Garda, respectively Miss Cinema Veneto and Miss Deborah Lombardia, are now in full race for the national Miss Italia title.
Progression in the competition and final phase
The two reigning queens, chosen in the splendid park of Villa Carrara Bottagisio by a popular jury, have overcome the obstacle of the pre-final in San Benedetto del Tronto. Arriving in the Marche city alongside 238 other girls from all over Italy, the two from Verona are now among the top one hundred most beautiful in the country.
Their journey now begins a demanding phase with a series of tests and appointments culminating in the four final evenings broadcast live on TV on RaiUno. The event, presented for the thirteenth time by Fabrizio Frizzi, will air live on September 6, 7, 9, and 10.
All one hundred girls will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the nation through brief interviews and during the talk show. Only one, of course, will be the fairest of them all.
Interviews and contestants’ impressions
Reached by phone, Sara Geroin, 19 years old from Povegliano, does not hide her disbelief. “I am sitting on the bus that is taking us to Salsomaggiore and I still can’t believe it. It’s a dream. In San Benedetto, when I saw the other girls, I thought the adventure was over. But it continues more than ever.”
Alone, along with many other peers, Sara confesses: “I miss home so much, but at this point, I want to go all the way.”
Having entered the Miss Italy contest by sending the coupon cut from the pages of the magazine Sorrisi e Canzoni, the blonde Sara, a professional employee, was elected in Bardolino with the regional badge of Miss Deborah Lombardia.
Valentina Serugeri and the dream of Salsomaggiore
She arrived in Salsomaggiore on the wave of her Miss Cinema Veneto title, Valentina Serugeri, an eighteen-year-old resident of the Saval area. Brown hair, dark eyes, the young Verona native, 1.70 m tall (with measurements 85-58-88), is always accompanied by her mother Mara and father Enzo.
Like everyone, she has a dream in her drawer. “I would love to work in the entertainment industry and reach Salsomaggiore,” she had said immediately after her crowning in Bardolino. A wish that has been partly fulfilled so far. Now, all that’s left is to cross fingers.
