San Benedetto Community Prepares Farewell for Parish Priest Don Giuseppe Righini

The entire community of the San Benedetto district is preparing to bid farewell to don Giuseppe Righini, who has served as the parish priest of the area for the past ten years and has requested retirement; starting from September 15th, he will be replaced by don Luigi Mainente, director of the San Fidenzio house.

Today, from 8 p.m., the church’s forecourt will become a gathering point for those wishing to participate, with their presence, in the farewell to the clergyman who has contributed significantly to the overall growth of the parish activities.

“Don Giuseppe has been a point of reference for all of us,” says Giuseppe Luce of Anspi di San Benedetto, “precisely thanks to his availability and simplicity.

Without him, many activities would not have been born, but once he embarked on a new initiative, he always knew and wanted to step back, aiming to help everyone find the necessary independence.”

Projects and Community Engagement

The Anspi circle was founded, over these years, with don Giuseppe being one of its founders and promoters. He has worked closely with the parish choir, the summer camp (Grest), the senior group, and the nursery school: all could count on his tangible cooperation.

The same applies to important projects, such as the ” old little church“, the first in the district and, therefore, so meaningful to many residents.

It had become a storage room, and over this decade, it has been restored thanks to his determination, and today it is used for weekday Masses.

Among his initiatives, there is also the adjacent football field near the parish church, which has been renovated, as well as the construction of the multi-purpose sports facility plate.

Impact on the Community and Final Farewell

“Thanks to him, our community has rediscovered important spaces and, at the same time, rekindled the desire and joy of being together, with a spirit of unity and cooperation that was previously absent: there is no person from San Benedetto today who does not speak wistfully about his departure, and we are sure,” concludes Luce, “that today many of us will say ‘thank you’ and wish him all the best possible.”
