New Bus Parking Project in Brescia to Cost Over €600M in First Phase
In the coming days, a bidding process will be carried out for the new bus parking area, which will be located beside the ex Goitese, at the corner with via Pisacane.
The total value of the works to be contracted amounts to over 600 million euros, and this is only the first of two lots through which the new service area will be built.
As explained by the assessor for public works, Sereni, the construction of the bus station will take place on a 5,000 sqm area, already designated for this purpose through a recent amendment to the General Town Planning Scheme.
Project features and development
Basically, the first lot worth 600 million euros will enable the construction of the essential infrastructure for the operation of the parking lot, including access and stopping lanes, as well as a service road.
The complex will be completed with pedestrian and cycle paths, public lighting, vertical and horizontal signage, urban furniture, and a landscaped green area.
Only at a later stage, and with additional funding, will it be possible to create a parking lot for cars, a waiting atrium, and restroom facilities.
Impact on traffic and road circulation
The development of this infrastructure is linked to the new road layout gradually taking shape, characterized by the first phase involving the opening of the ring road and the downgrading of the ex Goitese state road.
Within this framework, a significant portion of the traffic in the historic center, including bus transit, will be diverted onto the now older bypass, which will feature bike lanes and pedestrian crossings.
In the future, buses will use via Pisacane as their main reference point, rather than piazza San Luigi, with a connection to the city center through the Desenzani area.
