Rivana Considers Stalls Relocation to Ease Market Day Traffic
During market days, one of the main traffic issues in Rivana’s historic center is the difficulty in leaving the area. Porta San Michele, which is usually the most obvious escape route on normal days, becomes impassable during the fair due to the stalls lining up first outside the former Perini cinema, and then along the east side of Viale Dante.
The city administration, after consulting with the Unione Commercio (which was asked to outline practical solutions), seems inclined to experiment with two possible alternatives.
Initial proposed solutions
The first – the simplest – involves moving the stalls in front of the Perini cinema onto Viale Roma Nord and creating a preferential lane for those heading to the Post Office.
The second also involves removing the stalls on Viale Dante Est, but appears more complex because Viale Roma might not be able to handle all the stall relocations. A decision is expected in the coming days.
