Garda Fire at Bar Sirena Estimated €100M Damage, Suspect Under Police Chase
Updates on the fire at Bar Sirena with damages estimated at around one hundred million euros. According to sources, the Carabinieri are close to capturing the culprit who, on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, set fire to Lorenzo Boni’s establishment on the Rivalunga promenade at the Garda border.
Details about the perpetrator and the attempted theft
The suspect is believed to be an Italian, not from the local area, already with some criminal records. The suspect, who was staying at a hotel in Garda, reportedly went to the emergency room of a healthcare facility in the Baldo Garda area on Wednesday morning to treat a wrist injury.
It should be remembered that the thief entered the business after breaking a corner of the large window with his hand, leaving traces of blood everywhere, which were later examined by scientific police in Peschiera.
Regarding the entire incident, law enforcement agencies are maintaining the utmost secrecy for obvious reasons. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that at the pizzeria Viavai, located on Gardesana about a hundred meters in a straight line from Bar Sirena, during the same night between Tuesday and Wednesday, the burglars entered through a window left open at the back of the restaurant.
In this case, the perpetrators only stole 350,000 lire in cash. The timing and the short interval between these two episodes suggest it was likely carried out by the same delinquent, who was very possibly under the influence of alcohol.
Mayor’s concerns and other incidents
Regarding what happened last week in Bardolino (a fire attempt at the municipal police station was recorded on Tuesday), Mayor Armando Ferrari does not hide his concern. “These events are committed by vandals and not organized crime, but that does not mean we should lower our guard.”
