Trap Concaverde in Lonato del Garda to host European Championships and World Cup of Clay Shooting

Yesterday, the European ESC Championship and the ISSF Olympic Trap and Skeet World Cup were officially presented at Palazzo Pirelli in Milan. These events will be hosted by the Trap Concaverde in Lonato del Garda in May and June.

Lara Magoni, Undersecretary of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for Sports and Youth, welcomed the attendees and expressed her excitement for the event. She emphasized the importance of sports in shaping young people and promoting the region. Magoni also highlighted the strong presence of the Italian Shooting Federation in the region, with 29 clubs and over 3,000 participants. She praised the tradition of success built at the Trap Concaverde in Lonato del Garda and emphasized the role of sports in forming responsible citizens.

Ivan Carella, President of the Trap Concaverde, and Daniele Ghelfi, Fitav Delegate for the Lombardy Region, presented the hosting facility and the detailed program of the two events. The European Championship will involve 440 athletes representing 42 nations from May 16 to 26, while the World Cup, with open registrations, will take place from June 10 to 19. The continental event will be the last opportunity to secure the remaining four Olympic passes for Paris 2024.

Luciano Rossi, President of the Italian Shooting Federation and President of the World Shooting Sport Federation, highlighted the Trap Concaverde’s reputation as the capital of the Shooting Sport. He announced that the ISSF has already confirmed the allocation of two World Cups to the facility for 2025 and 2026. Rossi also mentioned that the Italian Shooting Federation will bring a complete team to Paris for the 2024 Olympics, expressing pride in this achievement for Italian sports.

Silvana Stanco and Luigi Lodde have already secured Olympic qualification in Shooting Sport. Giovanni Malagò, President of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), praised their achievement and expressed his admiration for the Italian Shooting Federation. He also acknowledged the contributions of private individuals in developing world-class facilities like the Trap Concaverde.
