Gardesana Road Repairs Continue Amid Landslide and Rockfall Risks

The three active construction sites along the Gardesana within just about twenty kilometers continued their operations yesterday. Two of these sites were set up to remove landslides that had blocked the road within 36 hours: one at 10:45 PM on Saturday (just south of Limone) and another at 3:15 AM on Monday (between Toscolano and Bogliaco). The third site, located at Forbisicle near the long tunnel of Campione, had already been scheduled for some time.

There is some delay reported at Toscolano. At Limone, however, work is ongoing by six climbers operating at 150 meters above the lake, engaged in rockfall removal and slope stabilization. Their work, already carried out under extreme conditions, is made even more difficult by the gravel bed above their heads.

The movement of the ropes to which they are attached causes continuous material falls, posing significant risks. Therefore, tomorrow and Saturday, a net will be installed to catch the falling debris above, ensuring greater safety. Over the past days, twenty meters of the cliff have been cleared. The third site began operations yesterday.

The road is also closed at Forbisicle from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The situation in the town of Campione is particularly noteworthy: during the closure hours at Forbisicle, the only access route is the ascent to Tremosine, before deciding whether to head toward Salò or Riva.
