Castiglione to Build New 700-Seat Auditorium for Local Schools

The Francesco Gonzaga Institute of Castiglione delle Stiviere will have a new auditorium next year. This announcement, already formalized during the inauguration of the four new classrooms last Tuesday, was communicated to the students of the Institute, who gathered yesterday morning in an assembly at a cinema in Castiglione delle Stiviere.

Since the province of Mantova and the municipality of Castiglione decided to sacrifice the Gonzaga auditorium to create four new classrooms, the lack of a space for large group meetings has become increasingly urgent.

Auditorium Project

Students, who last year strongly protested the lack of adequate space for the Classical High School, Scientific High School, and the Commercial Technical Institute, were presented with the preliminary project of the new auditorium yesterday.

Engineer Bordanzi, the designer of the project alongside engineer Bignotti, explained the drawings and data: the new structure, connected to the existing school via a covered passage but also accessible from the outside, will be able to host approximately 700 people.

The project, which will require an initial investment of 1.5 billion euros, will be funded by the Province of Mantova, both with its own funds and regional grants, as well as by the Municipality of Castiglione.

Perspectives and Timeline

The project also fits into a series of plans that include the future construction of new classrooms, parking lots, and a connecting road with the San Pietro Sports Center.

The students expressed satisfaction with this plan, but are equally eager for the start of construction, as are their teachers and the administrations commissioning the project.

The schedule for completing the executive plans and procurement procedures is expected to allow construction to begin by next spring.
