Gargnano Sailing Club Elects Luciano Galloni as New President
The new Gargnano Sailing Club Council has elected Luciano Galloni as president. Galloni, a financial manager by profession, succeeds Engineer Andrea Damiani, who has led the sports society from Altogarda for about ten years.
Once, Damiani managed to lift the Club out of difficulties (including financial troubles) it was experiencing and brought it to its current level. The election of the new president took place on Monday evening, with almost all the councilors present (four of whom were re-elected) of the sports club.
Resignations and Candidacies
Absent was Francesco Maddalo, who, in the electoral assembly a little over a week ago, secured the most preferences. Maddalo, who has followed the Circult Vela’s affairs for some time (his son is part of the racing team), is awaiting approval from the Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura, which is also necessary to hold the position of councilor of the sports club.
In addition to Galloni’s name as a candidate for the highest office, during the council meeting, someone also proposed Fernando Danesi, the vice-president in the outgoing management, although he didn’t seem very enthusiastic about it.
The Past and Future Perspectives
Danesi would have represented continuity with the recent past, which brought notable satisfactions to the Gargnano Club, composed of about 150 members, and with an event that has reached 50 editions – the Centomiglia – now well known beyond the Alps: over 300 boats participated last September.
The idea that emerged among the councilors (most of whom are from Gargnano) was to elect a local person. That’s what happened.
For the new president, some important issues remain to be defined. For his predecessor, the widespread acknowledgment is clear.
