Giuseppe Mongiello Elected New President of Garda Community

Giuseppe Mongiello, current vice mayor and Culture Councillor of the Comune di Salò, has been elected the new president of the Garda Community. He was elected during the General Assembly held today in Desenzano del Garda, in the presence of 53 “Great Electors”, mayors, and representatives from Public Bodies and Companies affiliated with this interregional organization, which for 39 years has coordinated promotional activities as well as the unified image of Lake Garda. He succeeds Adelio Zanelli, who has guided this organization, a Moral Entity, for the past four years.

Discussions about the expansion of Garda airports

During the Assembly, the Culture Councillor of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Claudio Molinari, stated the need to enhance the two Garda airports, Villafranca and Montichiari, affirming once and for all that the current Trento airport will not be expanded, as Trento is one of the main shareholders of the airport company Catullo and is therefore well represented in this sector.

“The Garda Community – as part of its statute states – is an association of public entities that promotes the protection, enhancement, and organic development of the Garda Lake Basin. It plays a proactive and coordinating role, respecting the decision-making autonomy of Municipalities and other supramunicipal Entities. It has proactive functions and serves as a ‘critical conscience’ regarding major issues concerning Garda and its inland areas.”
