City Allocates €1.56B for Education in New School Support Plan
With the new Piano per il diritto allo studio (Plan for the Right to Education), approved by the city council on the proposal of the Education Councillor, Giuseppe Bertoli, 1 billion 569 million euros have been allocated, against an income of 808 million euros, with a cost to the municipal coffers amounting to 761 million euros.
Compared to the previous year, this increase of nearly 148 million euros represents a 24% rise.
Among the expenditure categories, 174 million euros are allocated to school transportation, 115 million euros as contributions to non-public nursery schools, 42 million euros for textbooks in elementary schools, 26 million euros for middle and high schools, 737 million euros for the student cafeteria, and 41 million euros for meals for teachers.
Additional items include 191 million euros for assistance to children with physical, mental, and sensory disabilities, 177 million euros for educational and instructional activities of the two comprehensive schools for compulsory education (89 million in the historic center and Grole, 88 million for San Pietro and Gozzolina).
Specifically, there are 6 million euros allocated for support to “Francesco Gonzaga”, 7 million euros for the “Carta dei servizi” (Information booklet), 5 million euros for adult education, 10 million euros as educational support for the “Rodari” nursery, and 37 million euros for corrective gymnastics.
Revenue and contributions from users
Some services generate income from contributions or fees paid by users: the Municipality receives 50 million euros from school transportation, 26 million euros from regional funding for textbooks in middle and high schools, 650 million euros from families for their children’s cafeteria, 41 million euros in reimbursements for faculty meals, 5 million euros from the “Carta dei servizi”, and 36 million euros from corrective gymnastics.
Other commitments in support of schools are categorized under different headings, such as those for the renewal of furnishings.
