Valeggio to Abolish Driveway Access Fees and Crack Down on Tax Evasion

Starting from next year, the fee on driveway accesses, subject of a question from opposition councilor Luciano Terleth, leader of the ” Civic Union of Center – For Valeggio“, will be abolished. The commitment was made by Mayor Fausto Sachetto, who intends to rectify the disparity between those who voluntarily complied and those who have never paid, exploiting the fact that since 1992 no checks have been conducted by municipal offices. The mayor’s proposal to recover the amount not collected so far received little enthusiasm. “We risk spending,” stated Terleth, “more than we could collect.” The proposal by Terleth to make the main municipal documents available in the library was also rejected: there is a lack of space and staff. Instead, the mayor aims to activate a task force against ICI tax evasion. “We will compile“, declared Sachetto, “a single large database with information related to taxes, registry data, and everything that allows us to achieve full control over houses and apartments.” The request by Terleth to reconsider the project for the subdivision south of Valeggio, between the roads to Roverbella and Foroni, which the majority does not see as conflicting with the town’s zoning plan, was rejected. Additionally, in response to the Ulivo group leader Emilio Vesentini’s request to explain his presence in the building commission during the approval of the subdivision, the mayor said he was there because he was called to provide clarifications, considering the enforced absence of the project’s author and his colleague from the same office. While Vesentini raised the issue of giving at least the first 500 cubic meters of methane free to needy families, the regional contribution for domestic heating was acknowledged. (a.f.)
