Historic Lanterns Guide Public Lighting Upgrade in Old Center

The model was based on the three old lanterns that still survive perfectly in via Concordia. They were replicated exactly and submitted for the opinion of the landscape protection commission, which, at the end of last week, gave a favorable opinion.

Now, in the boulevards of the old historic center, where the repaving has been carried out, work can begin on the public lighting. The project involves positioning a lantern every 16 meters in the streets Fiume, Maffei, Gazzoletti, Diaz, Disciplini, Florida.

The distances will, of course, need to consider the characteristics of the existing buildings and may therefore undergo some adjustments. The estimated cost of the operation is 300 million lire: 150 million to be spent in 2000, with the rest in 2001, when the progress of the repaving works will allow.
