Castiglione Alcohol Recovery Club Empowers Families to Overcome Dependency
One of the social scourges still particularly widespread in our society is alcoholism, which is a direct and indirect cause of accidents and diseases that often lead to death. One of the social volunteer experiences in the lower Garda area and upper Mantua region that works with particular attention to addressing this problem is the Club of Alcoholics in Treatment, which has been active in Castiglione for several years. Founded on the insights of the renowned Croatian psychoanalyst Vladimir Hudolin, the club gathers alcoholics who have decided to seriously pursue the goal of overcoming this specific dependency.
Method and Objectives of the Club
Following this method, families who live with the daily drama come together once a week to help each other resolve issues caused by alcohol. The work within the club is based on the fundamental principles of solidarity and friendship, which enable families to develop more favorable conditions to positively change their lifestyle, achieving or maintaining abstinence from alcoholic substances.
The experience gradually allows families to become aware of their problems, learn to care about others, and work together. Of particular importance is the role played by the social worker, who facilitates, through their collaborative activity, the lifestyle change within families and fosters the development of a climate of serenity and cooperative solidarity within the club.
Role of the Social Worker and Promotional Activities
The social worker’s key role is to increase opportunities to highlight the human qualities of the members, nurturing their natural capacities for mutual support. In addition to this activity, the association also promotes informational meetings concerning issues related to alcohol.
Anyone wishing to contact the Castiglione club can go every Wednesday evening at 8:15 PM to the Centro Anziani in via Ordanino.
