Medole Bypass Plans and Budget Approval Discussed at City Council
The lively session of the City Council last evening featured a variety of topics on the agenda, including the general adjustment of the forecast budget for the fiscal year 2000; the approval of a variation to the master plan concerning the Castel Goffredo bypass; and the majority’s response to the interpellation raised by the opposition regarding the West bypass road of Medole, namely the connection between Castiglione, Medole, and Castel Goffredo.
Budget Adjustment and Master Plan Variation
Regarding the budget adjustment, as is customary in such cases, the topic saw the opposition abstain while the majority approved. There was unanimous agreement on approving the variation to the Master Plan necessary to continue the process related to the Castel Goffredo bypass, which affects only a small portion of land within Medole’s municipal territory. This variation, after the public display period, received no objections.
Interpellation and Projects Concerning the Bypass
Concerning the opposition’s interpellation, the councilor for Estevam Bordanzi reported that works related to the Medole West Bypass, which connects the current provincial road between Castiglione and Medole with the Medole-Castel Goffredo provincial road, will likely commence in the very early months of next year and should be completed within a maximum of 600 working days—approximately two and a half years.
The requests for project modifications made earlier by the Municipality of Medole to the Province, including a change to the route to protect agricultural lands, were not accepted. Instead, direct intersections with secondary roads were planned, which are highly questionable from a safety perspective, despite being more economical, as they allow direct crossing of the new highway.
The communications regarding direct occupation of the affected areas have already been sent to the relevant authorities, but while some petitions from private individuals to the TAR (Regional Administrative Court) appear to have been rejected, others are still in progress. The issue of the West Bypass of Medole remains unresolved and unclear, despite delays.
Discussion and Debate in Council
This issue triggered a heated debate once again within the City Council, particularly between Mayor Ruzzenenti and opposition councilor Anzeloni Bignotti. Ultimately, the latter expressed satisfaction with the clarifications received in response to the interpellation.
