Proposed Long Tunnel for Riva Bypass Revisited After Landslide

Months ago, his proposal for the new bypass of Riva was rejected by the city council, but now, with the new situation arising after the landslide on the Gardesana, Pier Giorgio Zambotti is once again proposing the “long tunnel”, from San Giacomo to the Sperone locality, and seeking the mayor’s opinion.

Proposal for a modification to the project

“Recently, during the city council session on the Pup 2000, I submitted an amendment concerning the western bypass that envisioned a long tunnel from San Giacomo to the Sperone on the Gardesana. This would allow us to abandon the absurd and harmful solution for the health of the residents, which involves an exit of the essential road at Monte Oro, as well as the possibility of making the Gardesana cycle-pedestrian up to the exit of the new tunnel, where a dedicated path could connect it with the old Ponale road, which is less susceptible to landslides.

Of course, the majority, now aligned on the shorter length of the tunnels, did not approve the amendment, but in the current emergency situation, everyone is talking about an essential tunnel connecting to Limone. So, why not combine everything by reconsidering the length of the western bypass tunnel and the restoration of the cycle-pedestrian connection of the Ponale?”
