AICS Desenzano Swim Meet Breaks Records with Over 1,800 Swimmers

Big numbers for the Aics “Città di Desenzano” trophy. The fifth edition of the swimming event turned into a record-breaking two-day competition, reaffirming itself as the most important race in Italy for the Master category.

At the end of a long series of heats, among the well over 1,800 participating swimmers, emerged the As Bergamo Nuoto team, which managed to surpass numerous clubs from different regions of Italy and abroad.

Behind the Bergamasque winners, who inscribed their names into the “Città di Desenzano” record book, replacing Nuovo Nuoto, the champion last year, were As Nuoto Bologna, Dds, Rinascita Team Romagna and As Europa 92.

The As Master Aics Brescia finished in ninth place in the overall standings, out of a total of 107 participating clubs.

Results and recognitions

A confirmation of the level reached by the Desenzano event was provided by the numerous categories in competition and the noteworthy times achieved at both national and international levels.

Some other names? Andrea Toia, in the 50 backstroke M60, and Claudia Cangelli, in the 100 butterfly M50, delivered the best overall performances in the male and female categories.

But they are not alone—many other swimmers participated, including Massimiliano Gialdi, Silvia Parocchi, Andrea Toia, Kous Marzena, Annarita Blosi, Donatella Magoni, Renata Marting, Renata Halberg and Daniele Kormendi.

The organizing committee also thanks the Federazione Italiana Nuoto, the press and television stations for their collaboration.

The awards ceremony was held in the presence of Mario Gregorio, president of AICS, the national president Ascagni, the provincial sports councilor Alessandro Sala, and the Desenzano colleague Garagna, accompanied by Roberta Morelli, regional president of AICS, Mario Vittoriali of As Master Aics, and Bruno Pescatori, Aics Brescia manager.
