Montichiari Stadium Development Discussed at City Council Meeting
Tonight, the new stadium will be discussed at the city council meeting. After a thorough study to find a solution that would lead the Municipality to build the stadium needed by the local team Ac Montichiari, which plays in Serie C2, the council will present the economic-financial plan for the project.
An economic plan that also considers a public tender will be awarded to a private company, which would also be responsible for managing the stadium for a certain number of years. In this way, the Municipality will not have to spend the six billion lire immediately, which are currently required for a structure that includes a main field with stands and services, alongside two additional fields for training.
Structure and issues related to the stadium
Moreover, the structure is urgent because the Lega Calcio has given the Montichiari sports club another year to find an alternative to the old Romeo Menti stadium, which has become too small.
Many of the 250 young players, boys and children who play in various Ac Montichiari teams, are forced to train at Acquafredda and Remedello due to lack of space in the town. The new facility will be built near Palageorge.
Council session and specific requests
On the agenda of the City Council, which will begin at 8 PM, are also three agenda items (Ds, Ppm, and Lega Nord) and a question from Ppm «regarding the crossing of Montichiari by heavy vehicles».
Riccardo Tosoni, a councillor from Popolari Per Montichiari, explains that «with this question, we aim to ask for the closure of the town center to heavy vehicles, which, despite the opening of the bypass, still cross the town to save kilometers».
The three agenda items concern, instead, the school vouchers approved by the Regione Lombardia (Bertolini from Ds), the extension of the light metro to Montichiari (Ppm), and recent statements regarding the establishment of a last reception center for illegal immigrants.
