Lakeside Promenade Redevelopment and Paid Parking Sparks Public Debate
Two recurring themes in recent months on the administrative and political front have been the redevelopment of the lakeside promenade (with the first phase of work costing 1.2 billion) and the introduction of paid parking, which have sparked strong protests among citizens and political parties, with petitions mainly from Lega Nord. The signatories of the most recent petition, concerning the legitimacy of the assignment given to the designer, have even consulted a lawyer who is currently studying the administrative documents. The Anelli administration proceeds with the resolutions it has adopted, and the reconstruction work on the lakeside walkway, from the Venetian Bridge to the Park Hotel, is well underway, perfectly aligned with the planned schedule, as assured by the public works councillor Tommaso Giardino.
Progress of the works and updates
There have been no significant difficulties as feared by many — adds the councillor — and the inconveniences for residents and tourists have been minimized; similarly, the weekly market has faced very few disruptions. Now, after the summer break, we will commission the second phase of the works, with the construction site expected to commence at the end of October.
