Verona Hospitality Supports Butchers and Red Meat Sector Recovery
Over two hundred operators from across the province participated in the traditional celebration, held at the Al Fiore restaurant and organized by Asco-Unione. Delegations of restaurateurs from Verona, Lessinia, the Garda area, Valeggio, and Villafranca attended the event. This year, the celebration took on a special meaning: hospitality and catering operators wanted to symbolically show solidarity with butchers, who have been in crisis for some time due to the «Mad Cow» phenomenon.
Support for sectors in crisis
«Our category will do everything possible to promote the recovery of red meat consumption,» emphasized provincial Fipe president Giuseppe Bruni. «The restaurant sector is the driving force of the provincial economy and acts as a launching pad and a unifying element for many sectors, capable of ensuring significant added value for the entire Verona system,» highlighted Province president Aleardo Merlin.
Alongside Merlin at the «operator’s celebration» were present provincial councilors Alberto Martelletto and Albino Pezzini, the agricultural sector manager of the Chamber of Commerce Claudio Valente, Colonel Foglia, representative of the Carabinieri Command, Honorary President of the merchants’ association Giovanni Franzini, and the managers of all the entities within Asco-Unione that oversee public establishments.
