Town Preserves Unauthorized Shack for Youth Activities in Romarzollese

Not all the widespread problem of building violations proves to be harmful. This is the case of a shack built in S. Giovanni al Monte without any authorization. Once the deception was uncovered, a few years ago the municipal administration, instead of demolishing it, requisitioned the structure and repurposed it for youth activities.

The decision to preserve the shack

It was not an easy decision, as not all council groups agreed on saving a questionable example of illegal construction. Due to functional reasons, the management of the shack will be entrusted by the end of summer to the Sat section of Arco, with the obligation to designate it for the stay of organized groups of teenagers.

Intended use and activities

The mountain association led by President Emanuelli will have no difficulty in attracting guests. For months, requests have been pouring into the municipal office from groups seeking to spend a relaxing period in the peaceful mountain area of Romarzollese.

The most numerous bookings come from scout groups and other similar youth associations, not only from Trentino. “To make the stay more comfortable, the Municipality has begun modernization works on the shack, which will face delays due to the necessary bureaucratic procedures,” they explain.
