Urgent: Restoring Navigarda’s Pier After Floatation Blockage

There is an urgent need to find an alternative to the double docking of the Navigarda boats, as the southernmost pier towards the Excelsior will be unusable if, as strongly decided by the Rivana administration, material must be dumped into the lake right there.

The solution was quickly identified: just south of the Lido ice cream shop, in the seventies, Navigarda had built a pier to dock empty hydrofoils overnight.

However, the current docking is blocked by the floating platform made of gasoline drums held together with wooden beams, constructed by the Manifestations Committee for the Night of Fairies.

After its glory days and lighting displays, the barge was parked at the Lido awaiting better times, which never arrived: it was only used by coots and ducks, perhaps suffering from dysentery, to rock themselves on the waves.

Current status and interventions

All that was needed was some maintenance to keep it afloat; instead, it ended up on the seabed, lying in shallow water.

The province has agreed to cover the cost (not insignificant) of retrieving it, in order to restore the pier to its original function.
