Lake Garda Tourism Leaders Address Easter Traffic Concerns and Solutions

Enio Meneghelli, president of the Apt del Garda Trentino, does not hide concern about the possible consequences of the upcoming, already announced and anticipated, influx of German tourists on Lake Garda during Easter and the other weekends in May. “The point is simple. Navigarda can handle roughly 400 cars per day. We expect six times that number. We cannot afford to have a few hundred vehicles queueing and parked along the roads of Busa, which are already congested with ‘normal’ traffic. We must avoid alarmism and scandals, which are so easy to trigger and can have harmful consequences.”

Actions and Solutions

The only honest solution is clear communication to motorists. We need to make it clear to those queuing from Brenner destined for the western shore of Lake Garda that we are genuinely working for them. Next time (and there will be a next time, given that this clientele knows the area and chooses it deliberately), they will pass smoothly, confidently, as if on velvet, safe in the knowledge that plans are in place.”

The Apt supports the initiative of reporting difficulties on Autobrennero. For its part, it has decided to contact two major tour operators, one in Italy and one in Germany, to seek their support as well.

Knowing the obstacle makes it easy to avoid it.
