Return of the World Youth Days Cross to San Luigi Gonzaga
Tomorrow (Monday the 19th), the cross of the World Youth Days will return. It originally departed from the city of San Luigi Gonzaga, the universal patron of youth, on July 14th, heading to Rome, where in August the Day with the Holy Father took place at Tor Vergata. At that time, it was a long pilgrimage on foot from the Mantuan land to the presence of the Pope.
Now the wooden cross makes its way back to the town of Aloysian, and it will be ceremoniously welcomed by the community starting upon its arrival at the church of Saints Nazario and Celso this afternoon. Tomorrow at 9:30 AM, a mass will be held in the Duomo, while in the afternoon, middle school students will carry the cross to San Luigi.
Although the celebrations and pilgrimage
At 6 PM, a mass will take place in the basilica, followed at 7 PM by a welcoming ceremony at the church dedicated to the Saint, and at 8 PM, a torchlight procession will start from the sanctuary toward the Castle. At the oratory, there will be a festival open to everyone in the presence of the bishop, Monsignor Egidio Caporello.
The following day, Tuesday the 20th, after the final moments of prayer, the wooden cross will depart again for the provincial pilgrimage, culminating in its arrival in Mantova on April 1st.
