San Felice del Benaco Hosts Bishop Carraro for Oblate Sacerdotali Renewal

San Felice del Benaco will host at 4:30 PM tomorrow the Bishop Flavio Roberto Carraro, who will co-celebrate the Eucharist at the Parish Church of the town, on the occasion of the renewal of the vow of consecration of the Oblate Sacerdotali.

As soon as the celebration concludes, the Bishop will inaugurate, blessing it, the Mother House of the Oblate Sacerdotali at via Zanardelli 20. The organization, recent and still little known, of the Oblate Sacerdotali stems from a happy intuition of Don Lucillo Bonetti, a diocesan priest at the parish of Portese in San Felice del Benaco and spiritual son of San Giovanni Calabria.

Origin and development of the organization

The parish priest recognized the importance of giving specificity to the work of individuals who concretize their Catholic faith by dedicating their lives to serving priests. The meritorious work of the sisters, initially carried out in San Felice, received its official recognition in 1969 by Bishop Giuseppe Carraro of Verona, who acknowledged its value of service and chose the name Oblate Sacerdotali.

In 1983, Bishop Giuseppe Amari canonically authorized the organization with a diocesan decree and approved its regulation, also thanks to the interest of Don Gottardo Maestrello (substitute for Don Lucillo in San Felice del Benaco). In 1992, Bishop Nicora established the Council of Consultants for the administration of the Oblates’ patrimony.

Current structure and activities

Today, the Oblate sisters number 16, some of whom are assigned to remain at the Mother House to welcome and train single or widowed women who wish to dedicate themselves to auxiliary service in the rectories. Inside the institute, there is a chapel open to everyone, where on Thursdays the Holy Mass is celebrated.
