San Giuseppe Running Event Highlights Lugana Vineyards and Atletica Pozzolengo
Among the side events of the Fiera di San Giuseppe was also the “Walk Among the Vineyards of Lugana.” This event, now in its 21st edition, is promoted by Atletica Pozzolengo, a club that for years — under the unmatched leadership of president Silvano Buzzacchetti — has been dedicated to running.
The gathering for the San Giuseppe Fair is highly anticipated by runners, not only from Pozzolengo and the surrounding area, given that there were as many as 2,400 registered participants, a true human tide that, like a multicolored serpent, wound through a scenic route among the vineyards producing the excellent wine of the low lake, particularly the white Lugana, which is born precisely in this strip of land between the Morainic hills and Lake Garda.
Routes and Participants
There were two routes, of 13 and 6 kilometers; on the shorter one also competed around ninety elementary and middle school students from Pozzolengo. There were two winners, tying for first place: Bruno Pachera from Atletica Pozzolengo and Bogdanich from Rubiera Corradini of Modena.
The time taken to complete the 13 kilometers was 43 minutes and 13 seconds. Kudos go to the organizers of Atletica Pozzolengo for the flawless setup, which included numerous refreshment points where, of course, along with water, participants could also enjoy the blond wine from “Silva Lucana,” the Lugana indeed.
