Garda Receives Approval for Disability Center; Council Revokes Bank Contracts
Decisive step forward in the creation of a reception and recovery center for people with disabilities in Garda. The City Council has approved the agreement with the District 1 of Ulss 22 for the renovation of a housing unit in Garda, which will become a reception center for disabled individuals managed by the cooperative Casa del Sole.
The municipality has allocated its share, 85 million lire, which will contribute to reaching the necessary one billion lire for the entire renovation, also involving an intervention by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Verona. The work is scheduled to begin in autumn.
Revocation of the agreement with Cariverona
The Council has also approved the revocation of the agreement with Cariverona for treasury and cash desk services, which the bank has managed for many years: “We have no particular complaints against the bank,” admitted the outgoing mayor, Umberto Chincarini, “but we believe that the service provided was not adequate to meet the needs of the more vulnerable groups, especially regarding the management of tax bills.”
Moreover, we have learned that the conditions set by the bank were not the same across various Municipalities. There is surely a reason for this, but since the contract allowed us to revoke the agreement, we have decided to consider all banks operating in the territory and to issue a public tender.
The best will win, but above all, the service will be more aligned with the needs, and prices will be re-evaluated. In short, greater transparency will be ensured, and everything will be conducted with maximum openness.”
The ICI regulation and other measures
The ICI regulation has also been approved: “No increase,” reassures everyone Chincarini, “the rate remains at four per thousand for all houses, but we have clarified the relationships between citizens and offices: from now on, things will be clearer and simpler.”
In Peschiera, the pre-election atmosphere is already palpable. Technically, this was the last City Council meeting, although tomorrow the mayor will call a final session to discuss comments on the overall Plan Regulation: “It is a necessary act,” explains Umberto Chincarini, “before the document goes to the Region. The administration, however, will continue to operate with full powers.”
